Book A Consultation

From The Desk Of The Executive Director, Dr. Ava D. Thompson

Every child deserves the chance to grow, learn, and thrive. Having access to mental health support is a fundamental part of that right. Here at BICAMH, we believe that emotional well-being is just as essential as physical health, and we are committed to ensuring that every child has the support they need to flourish.

Our mission is guided by a simple but powerful principle: when we protect and nurture children’s mental health, we strengthen families, build healthier communities, and create a brighter future for all. Through collaboration, advocacy, and compassionate care, we work to break down barriers and make mental health services accessible, inclusive, and child centered.

Thank you for entrusting us with this important work. Together, we can ensure that every child, everywhere can access the mental health support they deserve.

    KNOW WHEN TO SEEK HELP

Parents, close family members, teachers, and friends are usually the first to recognise the psychosocial, behavioural, or emotional needs of a youngster. Still, our view that children will outgrow issues and other concerns can make it a difficult decision to seek help.

At BICAMH, we recognise mental health care is often new to many individuals, and sometimes there is uncertainty, strong beliefs, and myths that can prevent caregivers from seeking child and adolescent mental health (CAMH) care. Because we understand our cultural realities, we make every effort to address those issues in our communications. We also advise caregivers that seeking a consultation is not a long-term commitment, and the costs for not acting are greater than the costs for the consultation.
